“We hired Jordan Rosenberg to design our dream home. We first knew of Jordan’s work from his publication of a contemporary home in DesignNJ magazine. We knew that we wanted an architect that understood our contemporary vision and would work closely with us to make it a reality. During the design development process we quickly realized that we had teamed up with a real professional who listened closely to our needs and was able to create the most intuitive and interesting contemporary design we had ever seen. When we had difficultly envisioning the home three-dimensionally, Jordan provided a virtual reality walk-thru of the foyer, master bedroom and family room / kitchen areas as well as exterior colored renderings. One of the most interesting challenges we encountered was that the township’s antiquated zoning ordinance did not allow for flat roofs in the town, which essentially was a way of prohibiting contemporary homes. Yet we really wanted a true ultra contemporary home, and thought we would have to settle for a traditional sloped roof, but Jordan devised a perfect solution to disguise the house to appear to have a flat roof by concealing all the sloped roof elements behind parapet walls. From the street the house looked exactly like a true living contemporary sculpture. We were most excited about the positive response we’ve received from the community and of course watching people’s expression when they saw the home. The best part of the entire design/build process was that we always entrusted Jordan with all of the important decisions and we never had to worry about a thing. Initially, the reason we reached out to Jordan was for the exterior. We absolutely loved his style and had high hopes of what he could do with our home. He knocked our socks off! Jordan and his team worked with us to transform our quirky colonial home into an amazing shingle style work of art. Jordan had a very challenging task to work with this house... We handed him a house of a hundred different window shapes sizes and awkward design elements, having been through 4 DIY renovations by previous owners since 1910. We asked Jordan to create some symmetry (without replacing all the windows), provide a seamless transition to our new 2nd floor addition, and make it beautiful. He did that and so much more. My husband and I could not be more pleased with the exterior design, and we have received the highest complements from everyone who has visited, even strangers walking down the street have stopped us or knocked on the door to find out who was the architect. The whole project looks as if it was originally built this way from day one and just restored to new. It has so much character, and we feel so lucky that this is our home! Then Jordan went well above and beyond and tackled the inside as well. My husband and I had a very interesting scheme for a master suite addition - an open concept / greenhouse / indoor-outdoor space with skylights covering about 1/4 of the room. It was yet another challenging series of tasks to fit everything into the space and to deal with the complex hip roof / hut ceiling geometry. Not only did Jordan stick with it through all this complexity, but he continually gave us the confidence that our ideas weren't crazy and that everything would be great. And great it is. Outstanding really. My husband and I can't believe we wake up every morning that this "vacation home" is where we get to grow old together and raise a family. Jordan also gave material/vendor recommendations throughout which ultimately completed the look of our home. I don't think we would have discovered NuCedar shingles if Jordan hadn't told us about it. It is really an amazing product and the only way to go if you want real cedar shakes but are hesitant on the maintenance or wildlife aspect of them.
